It is common knowledge that when we go through an ordeal it makes us better or bitter. One way it makes us better is by gaining empathy and an understanding of what someone else may be dealing with. If we are Christians it gives us insight into how to pray for someone going through a similar experience. We can be courageous in our prayers by praying through our own experience, with the hope that someone else will have a better outcome. We also have the opportunity to look from an outside perspective to see how we are handling our situation and how we could have handled our situation better.
What Steals Our Peace?
Worry is one thing that steals our peace. That sick feeling that comes from worry can get stuck in our subconscious and eat away at our peace. We can choose to trust God to use all of our situations for good. Both good and bad events in our lives can be used by God for His purpose. When we ask God to use our life events for good we are in a win-only situation. Even our liabilities can become our assets. I would think that we would get joy from being able to let go and trust God to bring something good even from something bad. That sounds to me like a miracle. Let us start expecting miracles no matter what we think our liabilities are! Let us give the Lord whatever steals our peace.
Prayer While Waiting
Lord God Almighty, sanctify me in Your holiness through Christ Jesus and be glorified. Thank You for the many blessings You rain down on us and those we love. Sometimes we think we have lost something that we will never see again, but then You surprise us with an unexpected blessing and put a smile on our faces. Help me count my blessings and not focus on what I think I have lost or will never have. Please give me the courage to let go of my bitterness and worries. Help me trust in Your love and faithfulness in the good and bad times of my life. Help me pray according to Your will and purpose because Your love outshines my human feelings. Help me be patient and steadfast as I wait on Your promised blessing. Help me as I yearn for the warmth of Your peace that I can only find in Your arms. Be glorified Holy Father as Christ Jesus moves and works to fulfill all of Your promises. Amen.
