The whole truth that comes from our Holy God leads to our spiritual victory. Pride and fear often keep people from seeking the whole truth from God. We don’t want to admit we are making a mistake or that we lack something others have. If we have a good reputation, we don’t want to appear weak or wrong. We fear what we will lose if others discover we are wrong. We fear opposing others in our group. What might we lose if we started speaking the truth to others who are making the same mistakes? The longer we avoid and reject the truth, the harder it is to face it.
The Chains of Laziness and Apathy…
Laziness can also keep people from searching for the truth. If we think a search will take too much work, we often avoid it. Unless we make the effort, we will never know what we missed or how obtainable our quest would have been. Sometimes, our knowledge is as simple as a Google or Alexa search, or better yet, an electronic Bible search tool. If you want something badly enough, you will find a way to obtain it.
Spiritual Blindness is Fixable…
We are blind to our pride, fear, bad attitudes, and lack of motivation. We’re blind to our own laziness. I understood my own shortcomings only when God opened my eyes. God opened my eyes as an act of grace without any condemnation. My persistence cannot transform others who are also blind. Only God can heal and transform spiritual blindness. This is why we pray for others and treat them with love and respect as God moves on our prayers.
Pride tarnishes our honor…
We can overcome pride by humbling ourselves to God and praying according to the Scriptures. Seek God’s truth. Pray for God’s grace, treat others with respect, and honestly pray about everything.
James 4:6 “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”
1 Peter 5:5-7 “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Fear can steal a victory…
We can overcome fear through prayer and trust in God. Seek to live according to Philippians 4:6-8 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Psalms 56:3-4 “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. 4 In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.”
Laziness and Apathy can steal a victory…
We overcome laziness and the lack of desire for truth, which is apathy, through the Lord God Almighty. In Christ, we are overcomers according to Colossians 3:23-24 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
Proverbs 8:15 “By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.”
Spiritual Blindness is healed by God…
We overcome blindness through prayer and the help of the Holy Spirit of God living within us. We are reminded it is by the power of God, according to the Scriptures. Only God can heal a person’s spiritual blindness, so we pray lovingly for ourselves and others.
2 Corinthians 4:6-7 “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”
Acts 26:18 “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”
John 12:44-46 “Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. 45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. 46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.”
2 Corinthians 3:15-17 “But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
We seek God’s Help in Prayer…
We need to acknowledge our need and shortcomings before God and turn to Jesus for His mercy and grace with repented hearts. Pray this prayer using your own words.
Lord God Almighty, sanctify us and our nations in Christ Jesus. Please have mercy upon us and cure our spiritual blindness in my country and in the nation of Israel. Send your Holy Spirit to spiritually heal all of us who are spiritually blind and lame. Overcome and transform our pride, fear, laziness, apathy, blindness to the truth, and our lame attitude toward seeking the truth. Have mercy upon us, Lord. Lord God, transform us with the power and grace found only in you, our Lord God, King Jesus. Deliver us in Your cleansing flood and in Your holy name, Messiah Yeshua for the Jews, and Christ Jesus for the Gentiles. In Jesus’ name I pray, help me praise You, apply Your Scriptures, and live Christ-centered. Amen.
Revelation 4:8b “and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.”
