To Know Our Heavenly Father

If we did not have a great relationship with our Earthly Father, it can cause problems getting close to our Heavenly Father. If we love Jesus a lot, we might even be tempted to only focus on Jesus when we pray or think of God. In John 10:9 Jesus tells us that He is the Gate to Salvation. God the Father sent Jesus to be the Gate that allows us to have a relationship with God. We have to remember to keep going through that Gate until we get to the Throne of God.

More Than Salvation

The Messiah of God was sent for our salvation. God also sent the Messiah to show us the Father and to make it possible for us to have a relationship with Him. We know this because, Christ tells us this in His prayer for all believers found in John 17. We have a unique opportunity to know God intimately. Jesus starts His prayer by addressing God with a very intimate name in John 17:1b, “Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee.” Jesus prayed for His Disciples and the Future Believers. That is why Jesus was sending His Disciples into the world. Jesus wants us to see, know and love God the Father the way Jesus does.

God Knows Everything Already

Jesus led by example. In Matthew 6 when teaching the Disciples to pray, He taught them to address God in very intimate terms again as the Father. In Hebrews 4, Paul reminds believers to come to the Throne of God boldly. I have learned that to come to the Throne of God boldly, I must be honest about my feelings towards God the Father, Messiah the Son and the Holy Spirit. They are one Spirit, One God.

It was scary for me to be honest with God about my fears and anger towards God. He already knew. He just wanted me to deal with my thoughts and feelings so we could have a better relationship. Trust God. God is Holy. God is Love. He loved you and I enough to send Jesus for us.

Pray Honestly

Heavenly Father of Love, sanctify me through Your Messiah and help me come boldly to Your Throne of mercy and grace. Open my eyes to see You in Truth and Spirit. Help me be honest about my feelings and thoughts about You. Help me forgive anyone I need to forgive, even You and myself so that I can walk in freedom and love. Please heal my wounds and let Your peace rest within me. Holy Father be glorified in the name of the Messiah, Jesus. Thank You for all You are and all You do. Amen.
