I wish there was a way to walk continuously in the peace and presence of Christ Jesus. When I was 5 years old, I did not want to leave my Sunday School Classroom. I did not want to lose that warm love that was in my heart when the Holy Spirit allowed me to feel the love of God. The presence of God is His greatest blessing for us.
Inspired to Believe
Years ago, I was inspired by the story of the 16th Century Christian Monk, Brother Lawrence that learned how to continuously pray from his heart as he went about his day. He called it, “practicing the presence of God”. He also concentrated on praying prayers from Christ in the Scriptures. I have always found The Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6 especially comforting. In John 17, Jesus prayed for all of His disciples. He prayed that even we future disciples would be with Him and be one within God. That is what I want and pray for too.
Inspired to Hope
God is omnipresent and able to be everywhere at all times. So, it is possible. The problem is me. I am too easily distracted by the things I like in the world and sometimes I am too self-focused. The Scripture, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 tells us to pray without ceasing and to give praise to God in all circumstances. I know I cannot do that on my own power because I am so easily distracted. My hope is in God’s ability to answer this prayer I started praying many years ago. I believe my resistance slows down this blessing. I find myself often needing to ask for His help in resisting the resistance to Him or His blessings for me.
Inspired to Wait on God
Lord God Almighty, please sanctify me in Your holiness and strength through Christ Jesus. LORD here is my heart. I want to do what it says to do in Your Word. I know Jesus has prayed for me in John 17 and it is His desire for us to be One. You know me better than I know myself. You know my weaknesses and strengths. Please help me to be in continuous fellowship with You and to pray without ceasing, giving thanks to You in all things. I want to be Christ Centered. I know sometimes I am resistant to the very thing I pray for, yet I know You are gentle and patient. I hope expectantly in Your ability to heal me of anything that hinders my prayers. Jesus in Your Holy Name be glorified as You move upon this prayer. Thank You. Amen.
