Even as a grandparent, at 70 years old, I am still learning to be obedient.

Sometimes I get distracted and I think I can’t stop…
I was busy cleaning out an old file and was going to toss out the old Our Daily Bread daily devotional. Jesus would not let me toss it. I was so busy! I put it to the side and planned to look at it later when I was not in the middle of something. I felt it would take too much time to go through the whole devotional. I was still too busy for the next few days. Every time I saw it, I felt pulled to open it, but I was just too busy.
I finally realized I was being a little disobedient and it must be important if the Holy Spirit kept nudging me to open it. I read the first devotional from top to bottom and realized the Holy Spirit was only leading me to read the Scripture and the Summary Line at the bottom of the page.
Does Jesus Have a Sense of Humor?
The first one was about Obedience, the second one was about Forgiveness. I had a smile on my face as I turned the page to read the third summary: Psalm 139:14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. The summary was, “when you let God’s love fill your heart, it will show on your face.” I laughed out loud! Such a sweet and gentle reminder from Jesus for me to be obedient and come talk with Him when He calls me. He knows how busy I am. However, He still loves me and wants to spend quality time with me. The message Jesus wanted me to get from my Daily Bread was from Monday, February 9, 2004, “Never take on more work than you have time to pray over.” That really hit home. Jesus reminded me of the story of Martha and Mary, and I prayed about everything Jesus brought to my mind.
Focus on God
Holy Father of Love, it is hard to believe, but it’s true even a Grandma needs to learn to be more obedient. From obedience comes blessings and safety. I should know this by now. Sometimes I forget what I thought I knew. Help me get the blessing that You want to give me. Jesus, please open my ears to hear You better. Open my heart to love You better and to walk with You in obedient love. Please bless my family with an abundant like in Christ. Jesus in Your Holy Name I pray. Be glorified because of Your loving kindness and who You are. Amen.
