My First Messianic Chavurah Bible Study

I had a hard time pronouncing the word, Chavurah. I did not know that the C is silent. The Hebrew word Chavurah means fellowship. Many small groups meet in a member’s home, and they fellowship together as they study the Scriptures. Most, if not all of these Bible Studies, also include food in these times of physical and spiritual fellowship. Obviously, it is more blessed to be in person at a Messianic Bible Study.

Feeding The Soul

I remember years ago I was part of a small Methodist home-based Bible Study Group, and it still warms my heart to remember that fellowship and spiritual growth that made me hungry to know God even better. I remember we had food but, it was the Spiritual Food that I received and still remember from that group of God’s people. That Spiritual Food is still feeding my soul today. I am so grateful for all of the Bible Study Groups that feed the hearts and minds of us, God’s children. Super special blessings for those that open their homes and ask the Lord to come and feed our hungry souls!

Praise God for Online Meeting Technology

Due to medical issue, I am now a part of a Remote Online Chavurah. Tony and Debra are the married couple that lead my remote Chavurah. Their warmth and easy-going personalities remind me of my first home Bible Study Group leaders. I am praising God that I can now fellowship again with other brothers and sisters in our Lord due to the Online Technology of real time meeting software. People in my Bible Study Group (Chavurah) are from all over the USA. I praise God that I live in an age where people can come together to worship and grow in the Lord in spite of their physical limitations. We also have the opportunity to grow in human fellowship due to the Technology of Facebook, YouTube and prayer chain text messages. Our Lord’s prayers are capable of touching and comforting the hearts of brothers and sisters beyond our human reach.

Without God We Labor in Vain

My first Bible Study Lesson was on Ecclesiastes 7:15-18 as King Solomon ponders the extremes he has witnessed as people worked hard at trying to be pious or wicked. As I listened and learned during this Bible Study, I started to remember how stressed out I can get when I try and do things in my own power, instead of following the Lord. I pondered the times that I was so focused on my task that I missed out on the blessings that comes from fellowship with the Lord while working with Him.

The Lord of Comfort

I realized I can focus on the task alone or I can ask the Lord to walk beside me as I focus on the task with Him. I have found working with God beside me is very comforting and rewarding in various ways. I am lonely when I work alone and when God is working with me I enjoy the work better. I find our Lord God to be very encouraging and sometimes even funny. For example, as I was writing the prayer below, I was just about to say something about the Father and I felt Him say in my Spirit, “Okay, make it good.” I had to laugh out loud. That is when I wrote, “Father, I enjoy and delight in Your Awesomeness!”

Invitation For God

Lord God Almighty, please sanctify me in Your Holiness and peace through Christ Jesus. Come into my heart and grow my faith and trust in You. I enjoy everything I do much better when You do it with me. Sometimes I forget to invite You, and I get so focused on my task that it drains me of my peace and energy. I do not want to live and labor in vain anymore. I want to invite You to join me as I live my life and perform all of my earthly tasks. My life is much more rewarding and happier when I know You are with me. Jesus, You are more than my God and family. You are also my Best Friend Forever. You never let me down and You understand me. You also understand others and I am much kinder and even more patient when I see things from Your perspective. Jesus, thank You for showing me the Father. Father, I enjoy and delight in Your Awesomeness! Please join me because I don’t just need You, but I also want You to join me. Life is worth living when You are in my life. Work is more fun and rewarding when You are with me. You know what is on my heart and understand my unspoken prayers. Will You, my Lord God Almighty join me and be my constant Companion? Be glorified because You are GOD, and nothing compares to You. Thank You! Amen.
