I do not want to have a bad attitude towards God and people.
Jonah had unforgiveness towards the enemy of his people and hoped their city would be destroyed by God. Jonah knew that God forgives people who repent, turn away from their sin, and turn towards God instead. Jonah would rather have the whole city of Nineveh destroyed than have them repent. Even after the great fish spat Jonah out onto the beach, he still had a bad attitude.
Jesus Wants Repentance
Jesus wants us to forgive and pray for our enemy’s repentance, not their destruction. Jesus wants us to follow Him obediently with a right attitude grounded in the love of God. Jonah was obedient eventually, but even in his obedience, he still had an unrepentant attitude. Jesus paid the price for our sin; yet we still need to repent and turn towards God and away from our sin. Jesus helps us pray for our enemy to repent and to hope for their repentance rather than their destruction. We need to seek the face of our Holy Father through Christ Jesus and give up any hate or unforgiveness toward God or man.
Pray Against Evil
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:10-13
Show me Your face, Lord God Almighty
“And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. 21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: 23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.” John 20:20-23
Prayer
Holy Father, please transform my bad attitude into a right attitude in Christ Jesus. I give up my hate and unforgiveness toward You and mankind. Lord, save Your lost sheep and show us Your face. Please call my enemy and those who offend You to stand before You. Please show them Your face and give them an understanding of how they have sinned against You. Jesus, please help them repent, turn away from their sin, and turn towards You. Create within us all a right Spirit grounded in Your truth and love through Christ Jesus. In the name and authority of Christ Jesus, I pray. Amen.
