Forgiveness Prayer

Wait for God to respond to your prayer as you discuss how you feel and how you want to improve in your life. Take your time as you pray and discuss any issues you have with the Lord. An honest prayer is an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how the Lord wants to bless you. He can help you learn from your struggles. If something feels off or wrong, then stop and talk to God about what you are feeling and what you believe. Know this: God loves you more than you can fully comprehend, God has your best interest at heart, and God wants to bless you. If you are having trouble with forgiveness, you might need to work through the Feelings prayer first or the Christ in My Life prayer to heal a memory. Remember that you will forgive best when you allow Jesus to lead you. If Jesus takes you to another event instead of the Foot of the Cross to forgive yourself and others, that is okay. Forgiveness is something you give to yourself by trusting God to get justice for you.

This Page also includes a Video below that can be used instead of the written Guideline Prayer.

Begin your prayer by first focusing on God…

Lord God Almighty, Yahweh, the Great I Am who sets Your People free. Sanctify me through Your Holy Spirit in the name of Christ Jesus to boldly come before You to be set free, to forgive myself and others. I am coming to the foot of Your cross Jesus, because You are the Lamb of God, who takes away our sins. I bring with me who I need to forgive ____. I stand at the foot of Your Cross (Luke 23: 34), I hear you say, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” I look into Your eyes Jesus, and I know I am forgiven. You bring to my mind things I need to forgive myself for… I kneel at the foot of Your cross and forgive myself now… I also see who I brought that I need to forgive. I tell You why I need to forgive them… I know that I can leave them at the foot of the cross for You to deal with. I understand it is now between them and You. I choose to walk away free by forgiving them now… I stand up and praise You. You are the Great I Am. You are responsible for my freedom and healing through this mighty act of forgiveness. I feel Your protection and love as Your Holy Spirit heals my wounds… I praise You Holy Father God and Christ Jesus for helping me walk free stronger, healthier, and in peace and joy! Amen
