I started praying about all of my dreams many years ago. Recently, I had a dream about obedience to Jesus that required prayer and a little research. I dreamed that Jesus gave me a cube of gelatin chicken fat that he wanted me to eat. I have always found that type of chicken fat from refrigerated chicken and turkey meat to be very disgusting. I have used it to make soup or gravy, but not to eat it.

Wait While I Confirm You are Jesus

I was so disgusted that Jesus would give me something that horrible to eat, that I needed to confirm it was Jesus asking me to do it. After I prayed and confirmed it was Jesus, I tried to think of how I might be obedient without gagging on the chicken fat. I thought of making a healthy vegetable soup because it came from Jesus. I asked Jesus if I could use it to make a healthy soup. I was not in the mood for the soup, but I thought it would benefit my family.

Jesus Really Loves Me

Jesus instead put chicken fat in a pan and fried an egg roll for me. I love egg rolls, and my mouth watered just anticipating the taste of a chicken egg roll fried in chicken fat. Jesus is the King of Kings, our God, our Savior, and has, without doubt, the authority and power to make me do things His way. Yet, Jesus cooked what I liked to help me be not only obedient but grateful for what Jesus was giving me to do.

Ask For Understanding

I told Jesus I did not understand. He told me that His love for me and desire for us to have a good relationship were important to Him. He wanted to help me be obedient in a way that would not harm our relationship. He did not want my obedience to Him to leave a bad taste in my mouth, and He did not want me to choke down something that I found disgusting. He told me that He loved me. I was a little surprised that Jesus loved me that much. I realized that Jesus REALLY does love me!

Jesus Will Help Us Be Obedient

Jesus helped me understand that when I try to be obedient through my efforts alone, I might be adding an element of needless suffering that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I can also harm my relationship with Jesus if I add useless and unnecessary suffering to my act of obedience. When I ask Jesus to lead me in acts of obedience, not only can I count on being successful according to God’s Plan, but my relationship with Jesus will be blessed. With Jesus, we are in a win-win relationship.

Prayer About Obedience

Holy Father of Love, Thank You so much for Jesus and His great love for You and even me! I know that means You love me with that same great love that Jesus has for me. Not just me, but all of Your children. Jesus, You help us be obedient as an act of Your love. Please help us invite You to help us do all things through You, strengthening our relationship with You and our Father. Jesus be glorified as You help me be obedient in and through You always. Amen.

Lord God Almighty, please sanctify Your child reading this post in You. Bless this child unexpectedly and wonderfully. Call them by name and tell them they are dearly loved by You. Cover them with Your Holy Spirit and rise up within them so they can pray to You with their whole heart, mind, soul, and strength as they echo Your love for them in their relationships. Tell this child what You want them to pray for right now in the name of Christ Jesus. Be glorified through this child of Yours as You pour out Your mercy and grace upon them in the all-powerful name of Christ Jesus. Bless the dreams of this dearly loved child. Amen.

A Little Research

I discovered that Jews like to use Schmatz instead of dairy for cooking. Schmatz is rendered chicken fat, a staple for Jewish traditional cooking. I guess Jesus must have shared something from His Jewish heritage with me as He cooked my egg roll. I feel even more special as He shared something from His earthly heritage with me.
