How Are We Changed After Death?

Have you ever wondered what we will be like in heaven? Does the Bible tell us what we will look like? It says in 1 John 3:2 (KJV) “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

We Will Be Like Him

I recently dreamed about my sister-in-law, Eileen, who lives in Heaven with Jesus. This dream led me to wonder about and do a little research about our transformation after death. In my dream, Eileen was standing outside in the yard with her family and was watching over them. She had a big smile, and her hair was radiant and not like human hair. I also have never seen any human being as happy as Eileen was. Her hair was glowing with God’s glory and it was a beautiful shade of radiant white. This was not my first dream about a dearly departed loved one.

Dreams About Departed Loved Ones

After my Father’s death, I had dreamed he was standing in the corner of my room like a soldier on guard duty, keeping me safe as I slept. That dream I had shortly after my Father’s death had given me a lot of comfort. I took the dream at that time of my life as one way that Jesus was comforting me during the grieving process of my Father’s death.

What Does The Bible Say About Departed Human Beings?

Matthew 17, The Transfiguration

In Matthew 17:1-9 during the Transfiguration of Christ, Moses and Elijah appear in glorious splendor as they talk with Christ Jesus. These two men were human beings that had died but are still alive and came to speak to Jesus, the Messiah of God. The Scripture says in Matt 17:3 (KJV), “And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.”.

Romans 8, We Are Joint Heirs Glorified with Christ Jesus

In Romans 8:16-17 (KJV), “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”

Matthew 22, Serving God

In Matthew 22:30-33 (KJV), “For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. 31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. 33 And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine. “. Make note that this Scripture says we are transformed “like” Angels but not” into” Angels. In other words, we are glorified by God.

1 Corinthians 6:3, God’s Saints in Heaven Will Even Judge Angels

In Corinthians 6:1-3 “Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? 2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?”.

God is the God of The Living

Mark 12:26-27 (KJV) “And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? 27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err. “.

Luke 20:36-38 (KJV) “Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. 37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. 38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.”.

Romans 14:7-9 (KJV): “For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.”.

We Have Not Lost Our Loved Ones

The Lord gave me this dream about Eileen, so we can understand we never lose our loved ones with the Lord. We are only separated for a short time compared to the time we will spend with them in our future. We still have work to do for our Lord Jesus here on Earth, so we can not communicate with them as we had. However, someday, we will be reunited with our loved ones and face-to-face with Jesus. We will be filled with unimaginable joy and glorified through Christ Jesus. Until that day, we still have work to do here on Earth as human beings for Jesus.

Prayer of Gratitude

Lord God Almighty, thank You for the sanctification we have in You while we are still here on Earth. Holy Father, thank You for our comfort through Your Holy Spirit as He helps us understand that You are the God of the Living. Thank You for Your mercy and grace towards us and those we love. Help us all walk with You today and trust You as we live as who You have created us to be in You. I thank You for helping me get the healing I need by briefly looking into my past events to forgive myself and others. I thank You for helping me not fear the future by trusting You. Your perfect love casts out fear because I know You have a plan for my life and those I love. Jesus, glorify our Father and be glorified as You move to bless this prayer according to Your purpose for all of us. Amen.
